Megan and Hermon are ready to embark together on their musical journey overseas in November.
Vocalist Megan Birdsall and Trumpet player Hermon Mehari are Kansas City’s latest jazz ambassadors to the world. Megan was named “Best Jazz Solo Artist in Kansas City” by the Pitch Magazine 2009-2010, and her second album, “Little Jazz BIrd” reached number 4 on the CMJ charts. She trained at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and has performed across the United States. Her recordings are heard on more than two hundred radio stations world wide, including those in France, The Netherlands, Japan, Canada, the US, Denmark, and New Zealand.
Hermon won the prestigious National Jazz Trumpet Competition in 2008 and was a finalist in the 2010 International Trumpet Guild Competition. His album “Diverse,” with his band by the same name entered the top 50 on the Jazz Week Charts, and remained in the top 120 for over six months. He has performed in numerous markets internationally, including France, Switzerland, Australia, and Spain.
