The New Music

Hey everybody I hope this post finds you nice and cool

…well I’m finally finished with another record.  It’s titled MBIRD “Over the Bones” a new linked website will be built and available for listen and download soon.  This new project has been in the works for the last year and has been a great usher and diary to me while coming out of my surgery over the last year and a half..

(I had some serious time to reflect if you know what I mean)

Its an all original record with its roots based in traditional folk-rock and country.  My greatest music influences from my childhood were always great Jazz and great songwriters.  Which made this transition very natural.  I picked up the guitar a week after my surgery with nothin and started playing these songs.  They just poured out.  Its like Wilco and Shelby Lynn met at my house of Jazz and made a record through my mouth. HAHAHA!!! We recorded half in Nashville and half in KC.  Wow, writing this down is wild!!!  Who knew?  I certainly didn’t expect this but I let go of expectations a while ago.  It’s been a huge journey for me stepping into all of this, especially since a clear road has not been my experience in a long time.  That is always a stretch.  In fact, there were times during this when I thought “what am I doing?”, but with the support of great musicians and a great producer, Jack Sundrud, I’ve turned the corner into a beautiful music life.  It incorporates all of my favorite kinds of music. I live in KC singing Jazz two weeks out of the month and then two weeks in Nashville making this record sing into your ears.

Be looking for the new record and it’s new website starting in September. I will also be starting a new Jazz record in late fall which will be my first half original half standard Jazz record too.  Thank you for all your love and prayers…enjoy the music!

Live the Dream…

Love Megs

    Hi Megan,
A friend of mine brought to my attention that you had surgery by Dr. Wolford in 2007. Just so you know I actually had a consultation appt. with him about a week or so before your surgery in Dallas, Texas. I had Mitek anchor discs surgery with Dr. Wolford in May of 2008 and Lefort 4-piece surgery combined with lower jaw advancement with Dr. Wolford on 10/30/2008. My question to you is I understand you had total joint prostheses with Dr. Wolford which is now what he is proposing combined with Coronoid surgery. How are you doing since your surgery? I notice you are back to singing which is great news and I love your music. My biggest concern besides having no idea where I am going to raise the money for this surgery is the concern of having to redo this surgery every 10 to 15 years. With Dr. Wolford’ s age he will be retired by then and worry about finding a doctor with his expertise. I have to admit floor 16 at Baylor was nice along with the beautiful view. Eve and Denise were also wonderful. The fellow that helped out with your surgery probably was also assisting in my surgery. I actually had my original upper jaw surgery in 2005 which relapsed and I ended up with over 8 complication surgeries before I found Dr. Wolford. Unfortunately my joints have shown significant bone changes and Dr. Wolford gave me the dreaded news I will have to undergo surgery once again…ARGHH!

I actually live right outside Washington, DC and like you had to travel to Texas and stay at a local hotel for two weeks. I was in the hospital for 4 nights after my jaw surgeries. Please let me know your experience with the joint surgery along with how you are doing now.

    Best Wishes,
    Karen George
